Alex sat at the table, his fingers nervously drumming. He stared at the entrance to the restaurant, anticipating the arrival of Palutena. It was the two year anniversary of when they had their first date. Alex had something special planned for the occasion. He checked his pocket to ensure that his present for her was still there. All that was missing was Palutena. The waiter gave him a complimentary cup of water as he waited.

She showed up about 2 minutes later, dressed up in her normal outfit, a beautiful white dress with some brown belts thrown on, and a golden necklace and bracelets. She spotted Alex sitting alone, waiting for her. She smiled and walked over to him. “Sorry I took a bit,” she said, “I wanted to look my best for you.”

“You always looks your best, Pally,” Alex commented. She blushed at this comment and sat down. They ordered their meals and conversed about their day.

“I was afraid today would never end,” Palutena said, “It just seemed to go on for too long with having nothing to do.”

“Oh, I’ve had days like that before,” Alex replied, “Had one today.”

“Really? What did you do?”

“Oh, I mostly just watched some videos, made a few drawings, played some games, the works. What did you do?”

“I felt a little tense, so I took a bath in the temple hot spring. Have I ever taken you to it?”

“No, but I can imagine it’s very relaxing. Much more so than mine, being much more divine.”

“It is,” Palutena became relaxed at even the thought of it. “It feels like every single part of your body is getting massaged by it…It’s so refreshing.”

“I’d love to try it out someday,” Alex said, “though I likely won’t be able to.” He frowned.

“Don’t be so hard on yourself, Alex. You might get to use it someday.” The food came. Palutena had ordered a bowl of angel hair pasta with shrimp, while Alex got a chicken alfredo. The two ate their meal rather quickly.

“Ooh…” Alex said afterwards, “I think I might need to go for a walk to work off that pasta.”

“That sounds romantic,” Palutena chimed in, setting her fork in her bowl and finishing her drink.

Once outside, Palutena and Alex walked along the sidewalk. There was a lake nearby that they headed over towards. They sat down on a bench, looking at the full moon’s light reflected in the lake. Palutena put her hand on Alex’s arm and squeezed her loving boyfriend to herself. And Alex put his hand on the side of Palutena’s waist. They remained silent, the only sounds being made by some waterfowl on the lake. Alex looked up at Palutena. Palutena looked down at Alex. They stared at each other for a minute or two.

Palutena started getting up. “Thank you, Alex. Even though we didn’t say much, this was a wonderful romantic evening together. I hope we can do it again soon.”

“Wait, Pally,” Alex started, “Please don’t go quite yet.” He also got up. Palutena tilted her head, wondering what Alex meant. Alex stood up and took the present out of his pocket. It was a little ring box. Alex got down on his knee and held the box out in front of him. Palutena put her hand to her face and smiled. “Palutena…will you marry me?” He opened the box to reveal a beautiful diamond ring.

Palutena started crying with joy.  She hugged Alex tightly. “Oh, yes, Alex, I will!” She kissed Alex on the forehead.

“Thank you, Pally,” he said. The two hugged some more.

The next day, Alex and Palutena began planning their wedding. They went to a wedding planner.

In her office, she introduced herself to the fiancés. “Hello,” she smiled, “My name is Holly Matrimony.” She reached out her hand for a handshake.

“Boy,” Alex commented, “With a name like that, you’re basically destined to be involved in weddings.” Alex shook her hand. “I’m Alex.”

Palutena shook Holly’s hand, “I’m Lady Palutena.” She and Alex sat down in front of Holly’s desk.

“Well, if you’re looking for a wedding planner, look no further. I’ll help with every step of the wedding. First off, we need to set a date and a location for this wonderful day. Any ideas?”

“Well,” Palutena commented, “I have my own temple.”

“Your own temple?” Holly smiled.

“Yes. It’s large and has a plethora of rooms. It would be perfect for the wedding, the reception, and the honeymoon.”

“Well, it seems you’ve given this some thought. You might not even need my help,” Holly laughed. She noticed that neither Alex nor Palutena were laughing at her ‘joke’. “Ah, well, seriously, you always need help with planning a wedding. No one can do it alone. Now do you have a date set in mind?”

“Mmm…” Alex thought, “April 10th is sounding good for some reason.”

“Ooh, the 100th day of the year! Seems like a good day.” Holly wrote down the date on her computer.

For the next few days, Holly helped Palutena and Alex to get their wedding all set up. They chose a buffet to give all the guests the freedom to choose food they want. Both Alex and Palutena requested chicken to be the main course at the buffet.

As for music, they decided to have a dance after the reception meal. They were able to book one of the best DJs in the town, 9-Volt. He promised to play only the best video game music at the reception, only if he could get home before his bedtime. These conditions were acceptable for the two.

On one of the later days, Palutena chose her bridesmaids. She chose her friends Rosalina, Samus, and Zelda. Similarly, Alex chose his groomsmen. He chose his best friend, Pit, Mr. Game & Watch, and R.O.B. Along with these 6, they worked up a guest list, which included a few of Alex’s friends from his adolescence, including his friend Kel, who was currently dating R.O.B. Color-wise, Palutena chose purple for her bridesmaids’ color, while Alex voted for sky blue for his groomsmen.

Palutena’s favorite part of the process was the food tasting. Holly took them to several bakeries to sample their cakes. Palutena had the brilliant idea of having an angel food cake, and Alex thought it might be nice to fill it with something like peanut butter. They went around to different bakeries, but none of them were able to make such a cake. After spending much of the afternoon failing to find a restaurant, Palutena and Alex sat down at a table outside a coffee shop.

“It seems hopeless,” Palutena sighed, “We’ve been to half-a-dozen bakeries and none of them could make us an angel food cake with peanut butter filling.”

“Don’t worry, Pally,” Alex commented, “I’m sure we’ll find one soon.” As if the writer was flipping through the book of clichés, someone who could make an angel food cake with peanut butter filling walked by. It was Princess Peach Toadstool, the monarch of the Mushroom Kingdom. She saw Alex and Palutena sitting by a table.

“Hi, Palutena. Hi, Alex,” the princess greeted, “Whatcha up to?”

“Oh,” the deity replied, “Alex and I are looking for someone to help make our wedding cake. We want an angel food cake with a peanut butter inside. But no baker we’ve talked to can make one.”

Alex thought for a moment. “Hang on, Pally,” Alex suggested, “I’ve heard Peach here is very good at making cakes.”

“Good?” Peach scoffed, “Charm City Cakes and Carlo's Bakery are ‘good’ at making cakes. I am fantastic at making cakes. I can make you any kind of cake for any event you’re having. When’s the wedding?”

“April 10th.”

“Oh, that’s easy. I can have it for you by then.”

“Thank you, Peach,” Palutena said.

The next day was reserved for Palutena and Alex to privately plan their honeymoon. They decided to have it in Palutena’s temple, since it had a nice bed for them to sleep in and a hot spring for them to relax in. Palutena had plenty of Centurions to make them food and clean up the room while they were out.

Palutena and Alex had to get fitted for their wedding outfits. Palutena requested a purple wedding dress while Alex requested a blue tuxedo.

The last thing they had to determine was whether gifts would be given at the wedding. Alex thought it seemed only fair for the guests to see the newlyweds’ reaction to the presents.

“Well,” Holly said, “It looks like we’re all done. The only things left are the bachelor party for Alex, the bachelorette party for Palutena, and the wedding.” Holly sighed, “I can hardly wait!”

“Yeah,” Alex said, rather glum, “Neither can I.”

As Alex and Palutena started to leave, Holly grabbed Alex by the shoulder. “Say, Alex,” she said, “You’ve seemed rather sad for awhile when I’ve seen you. Is everything…okay?”

“Yes,” Alex said, “Pally’s fine. I’m fine. We’re fine together.”

“Okay, Alex. If you insist…See you on the 10th!”

On April 9th, Alex had his bachelor’s party with his friends Pit, Mr. Game & Watch, and R.O.B. The four of them went to a pizza place with an arcade to celebrate.

“I admire your devotion to Lady Palutena,” Pit said. The four sat at a plastic table, eating pepperoni pizza. “Most guys have exotic dancers or strippers at their bachelor party.”

“Yeah,” Alex sighed, cutting his pizza slice.

R.O.B. pressed the pizza against his face. Repeatedly. “Strange,” the robot said, “This normally works when I do it in Smash Bros.”

Pit chuckled at this. He turned to Alex. Though Alex would normally find such a thing funny, he didn’t even crack a smile. “Hey, Alex,” Pit asked, “Are you okay?”

“Huh?” Alex turned to the angel, “Oh, oh yeah.”

“Say R.O.B.” Game said, “Fancy a game of Mario Bros.?” The monochrome pointed to the cabinet.

“Sounds like fun,” the robot replied. They got up and went over to play it.

Pit scootched next to Alex to talk with him. “Look, Alex, I may not be the smartest angel out there, but I know when something’s wrong. So what’s going on? Is it something about the wedding?”

Alex sighed, “Yes. I’m just really nervous about becoming Palutena’s husband. I mean, what if I can’t be as loving and protective as I need to be?”

“I know Lady Palutena and I know you. You’ll be a wonderful husband for her.”

“I’m glad you have confidence in me, Pit. I just wish I had confidence in myself.” Alex sighed and finished his last bite of pizza.

A disappointed R.O.B. and Mr. Game & Watch returned to the table. “Stupid fighter flies,” Game said, “We would’ve gotten farther if it hadn’t been for them.”

After the bachelor party, Pit was picked up by his girlfriend, Rosalina. “Hey, baby,” Rosalina said, “How was the party?”

“It was fine, Rosie. I best be heading back home, though.”

“We can be there instantly.” Rosalina beamed herself and Pit up into her Comet Observatory. Once on board, Rosalina activated the spaceship transformation and flew Pit back to Skyworld in an instant. Once there, Pit and Rosalina kissed good-bye and Rosalina beamed Pit to the ground. The little angel turned towards the temple that would host a large wedding the next day. He started walking towards it.

Inside, Pit went to Palutena’s chamber. He knocked on the door. “Come in,” he heard Palutena call. He creaked open the door. Inside, he saw a dressing wall in front of the staircase. There was a faint glow coming from behind it. He entered slowly.

“Lady Palutena?” he asked.

Palutena poked her head up from behind the dressing wall. “Oh, it’s you, Pit. I thought it might be Alex.” Palutena walked out from behind the dressing wall wearing her wedding dress. Pit genuflected before her. “Could you help me out?” Palutena requested. She turned around so Pit could zip up her dress. He did just so. “Thank you, Pit.” She patted him on the head, which always made him happy. “So what brings you here? The wedding’s not for several more hours.”

“I know,” Pit replied, “I just need to talk to you. See, it’s about Alex…”

“Oh, dear…What is it?”

“Well, he’s feeling kinda sad. He’s not very confident in himself and doesn’t think he can be a good husband to you.”

“Hmm…this is problematic…But I think I may have a solution.” She looked down at Pit. But for now, it’s late and tomorrow’s a big day. So you best get back home and sleep, Pit. Same for me.”

“Alright,” Pit yawned, “Good night, Lady Palutena.”

The next day, Palutena’s temple was full of people. Centurions brought out chairs for the guests. Alex saw that many of his friends from his adolescence were there, such as Morgan, Brandon, Kel, and Matthew. He also saw many video game buddies of his.

While the groomsmen were getting dressed, Pit asked Alex, “How do you feel?”

“Okay. You?”

“I feel good. And if you feel sad, just remember that after today, you’ll spend the rest of your life with Lady Palutena.”

“Thanks, Pit. You’re a great friend.” Alex gave Pit a hug.

Rosalina opened the door. “You’re on in a few minutes, Alex.” Rosalina saw Pit dressed sharply in his own blue tux. “Ooh, lookin’ sharp, Pit.” She closed the door.

“We best head out,” R.O.B. suggested. They left their dressing room and went to the stage to get married. Pit, Game, and R.O.B. stood near the back along the same row as the bridesmaids. Pit waved to Rosalina, Game waved to his girlfriend, Samus, and R.O.B. waved to his girlfriend, Kel.

Soon, 9-Volt began playing the Bridal March on his keyboard. Palutena walked into the room. Alex felt his heart fluttering as she walked closer towards him. Many of the guests were crying as she walked to her spot on the stage.

The pastor looked at the couple. “Dearly beloved,” he started, “We are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony. A union to show the true dedication and loyalty of this couple’s love for one another. If anyone here has any just reason why they should not be lawfully married, let them speak now or forever hold your peace.” He turned to Alex. “Do you, Alex Harimon-Agins, take this woman to be your wife, to love, honor, obey, and cherish, for better or for worse? If so say, ‘Yes, I do.’”

“Yes,” Alex replied, “I do.”

The pastor turned to Palutena. “And do you, Lady Palutena, take this man to be your husband, to love, honor, obey, and cherish, for better or for worse? If so say, ‘Yes, I do.’”

“Yes,” Palutena replied, “I do.”

“Then by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.” Alex and Palutena turned towards each other.

“Wait,” Palutena said. She whistled to the side. Two Centurions came flying in, carrying Palutena’s magical staff. She grasped it and thrust it on the ground. Everyone in the audience was watching to see what was going on. A cloud of smoke lifted up around Alex.

When it cleared, no one could believe it. Palutena had turned Alex into an angel, almost as tall as her, with gorgeous blue wings. Alex felt so wonderful that his self-confidence was boosted immensely. He swept Palutena off her feet and kissed her.

Alex barely paid attention to the reception. He didn’t care what they had to eat or what his friends had to say about him. He just knew that Palutena had loved and cared about him so much that she turned him into an angel.

That night, Alex carried Palutena up to her room. It was the first time he’d ever been there. The room was light yellow and had a large canopy bed in the center. Alex set Palutena down on the bed and cuddled up next to her. They started kissing passionately. And soon after, they consummated their marriage. 10 months later, Palutena gave birth to their daughter. She was a blue-winged angel like her father and one could faintly make out green hair on her head, like her mother. They named her “Minerva.”

That's awesome, I'm just now getting to read this but I love it! I was wondering how that happened. I heard pit and megaman were good friends. Was He there too? I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't that guy's always busy. He got a job in the city and the last time I saw him was three years ago on a drag mission file. Meh. Say Hi to Palutena for me. and enjoy your day! Or what's left of it.. I dunno I'm writing this at 14:039 in Venarii time. I think that's like 4:07PM earth time but it could also be 9:04... I dunno, my skills with time are a bit rusty.
